The Cause
The Cedars Golf Classic raises money for the Peter Abraham Cedars Surgical Oncology Fellowship Fund.
This Cedars Cancer Foundation Fund allows the Cedars Cancer Centre at the MUHC to attract best-in-class surgeons to the hospital, where they receive advanced cancer surgery training. The surgical oncology fellowships help the MUHC recruit and retain top surgical talent, support specialized training, foster innovation, and increase surgical capacity.
Proceeds from the tournament also will allow the Montreal General Hospital Foundation to invest in innovative projects that have the potential to change the way cancer is treated.
Why support surgical oncology at the MUHC?
Surgical oncology is a medical specialty focused on the use of surgery to diagnose, stage, and treat cancer. Surgery is one of the most effective tools for curing many cancers, especially when the disease is detected early.
The financial support of our foundations enables surgeons and clinician‑scientists to pursue cutting‑edge research and make significant advances in surgical oncology, such as the adoption of minimally invasive techniques that incorporate robotics and precision imaging. The use of personalized and ultra-precise surgical techniques like these reduces complications, improves outcomes and survival rates, and enhances quality of life.
In a field where rapid progress can mean earlier diagnoses, safer procedures, and more effective cancer treatment, the generosity of donors like you ensures that the MUHC remains at the forefront of excellence in surgical oncology and continues to deliver world‑class care to patients and families across Québec.
Thank you for standing with us in the fight against cancer.
